screw hockey in the ear

Ok, may be I'm being overly sensitive. May be it's me not acknowledging my partner's interests... but c'mon! EIGHT MONTHS out of the entire year?

When I first moved to Toronto, I thought it was really funny: hockey is religion here. Those damn canucks, eh. But my gosh, when my boyfriend talks to me about hockey, I shut it out just like he ignores everything I say about Roman history. Does it really matter? Truly? Why is Belfour in your vocabulary? I just can't stand being bested by a hockey game. I don't want my plans to be determined by the outcome of a game.

May be I should just stop getting annoyed by his obsession and get into it. But, I swear... I still can't see the puck.

you mean you're not my wife? I'm embarassed! How long have you been together? I mean, his interest in hockey couldn't have been a surprise, could it?

That's ok! I'm glad I'm not the only one who whines like this. We've been together for four years. It wasn't a surprise... but the playoffs are the worst! Hockey, basketball, football... I'm just glad he's not into baseball.

Even though I am from Minnesota I still regard hockey as nothing more than soccer on ice....I can't see the damn puck either.
